What is Pelvic Girdle Pain (SPD) ?

Written by Dr Josh Smith - Doctor of Chiropractic | 26/06/18 12:30

Pelvic Girdle Pain is pain in the pelvis during pregnancy.

During pregnancy, your body creates a hormone called relaxin that softens your ligaments, making your pelvis more mobile and allowing your baby to pass through (slightly!) more comfortably during birth.

Whilst this increased mobility of your pelvis generally does not cause discomfort, there are some side effects to this change in your body that could prove painful.
